Beadwork feature - Saint Patrick's DayOn my way to the end of the rainbow in search of leprechauns' pot of gold I've seen some lovely things. Iwalked on a thick carpet of shamrocks, but there was no time to pick one to bring it here. Intricate knots and triquetras carved in stone took my breath away. I was offered a claddagh ring as a token of friendship and a four-leaf clover for good luck on my journey. And where did I start? I tried to bead my own shamrock.Edit: After informing almost everyone featured here that I included their pieces I realized that in every message I wrote "tutorial" It's not even 6 AM here so I hope you'll forgive me this tiny mistake. Beadweaving feature - beaded beadsBeaded beads can be done in any of many bead weaving stitches. The beadwork can be done over an existing bead or the beaded bead can be entirely self supporting, hollow or filled, simple or embellished, cylindrical, spherical, cubical, flat, round... whatever shape and size you want. They can be used to make the whole jewelry piece or just as an accent. Check out what our fellow deviants made and how they used their beaded beads in jewelry.Instructions Peyote beaded beadTubular peyote beaded beadFrom dA :thumb1169933

Beadweaving feature - Geometry and scienceMath doesn't sound like much fun to me. Neither does physics nor biology. But when you combine beadwork with them, you get a different view of these sciences. I wanted to show you sorta sciency side of beadwork and different geometric shapes and patterns that are rather often seen in it, and we don't usually perceive them as such. But when you think about it, it usually all boils down to basic shapes like squares, circles and triangles. But there's more - you can make pyramids, cubes, spheres, cylinders... You can make replicas of DNA and other molecules using beads and thread. Now that does sound like fun. Make sure to check out Gwen Fisher's blog - she made a tute on beaded DNA helix.Gwen Fisher's paper on symmetry of beaded beadsGwen Fisher's blogBeaded moleculesFrom dA :thumb25688424
Beadweaving feature - Rock and Roll All NiteHiya all. It's been a year since I wrote my first beadweaving article. Since then I've featured nearly 1500 deviations by over 100 deviants. I've covered beadweaving stitches, some non-weaving techniques, different types of jewelry and more. It doesn't happen very often that I get asked to do a particular theme. This time it was :iconvomitingunicorn: who asked me to pick some goth-punk-grunge beaded jewelry. Unfortunately, I couldn't find that many punk/grunge pieces, but I hope that this selection (the biggest one so far) will help you find what you are looking for.By the way, does anyone know how to submit journal to art news instead personal? From DA :t
Beadwork feature - ButterflyBeaded butterflies can be done in any stitch. There are many variations, many shapes, many colour schemes. You can do them on a wire, like French flowers, or using a thread. I've left the ones that are not woven for a different feature. Enjoy beadwoven ones now. Beadwork feature - beaded spidersTwo weeks ago I promised to make an article on beaded spiders. I like little critters. If you suffer from arachnophobia, you shouldn't look at the rest of this feature. Oh, and I don't quite understand spiders as Christmas ornaments, so I'd be very grateful if someone could explain that practice to me. Is there some sort of legend behind it, some belief or what?TutorialsVideo tutorialAnother video tutorialBeaded spider broochWire and beads spiderYou can find more tutorials in my Halloween feature. From dA :
