Fringes and picots are often used for embellishment of beaded jewelry. Some stitches, like St. Petersburg and herringbone, have a natural picot edge. Others don't, but that doesn't mean that you can't add one to them. Fringes are essential part of traditional brick stitch triangle earrings, but you can put them on anything. There are so many variations of beaded fringe that you can actually make a whole piece just out of fringes.
