I was asked to do a feature on jewelry made of bugle beads. These tubular beads can sometimes be very tricky to incorporate in a piece, and people get stuck with them without a clear idea how to use them. Bugles are often used in ladder stitch and fringes, so it isn’t unusual to see them in brick stitch earrings. Netting and right angle weave can easily be modified for bugle beads instead of seed beads. You just have to pay attention to one thing - bugle beads have sharp edges and are likely to cut your thread. Therefore it is advisable to put a seed bead at each end of bugle bead.
Here’s my choice of gorgeous projects with bugle beads. I’m sure they will inspire you to use bugle beads in your jewelry.
